We also aim to clarify terms used by project management practitioners when task management is discussed or planned. The hope of this tutorial is to educate the reader about the attributes of good task management software. The market is saturated with to-do list and task management tools in varying maturity and functionality. More advanced task management systems support dependencies, recurrence, priority, and complexity. Tasks could have status, start date, due date, people who are assigned to work on them, comments, tags and files which are attached to them. Teams rely on task management software to collaborate and achieve group goals together. Individuals use task management tools like a pen and a pad or software tools to organize and accomplish personal goals for every day’s chores. ![]() It includes gathering requirements, planning, status tracking, testing and creating final reports when tasks are completed. Task management is the tool for creating and managing tasks through the project’s lifecycle. In other words, there could not be a good project management software without a very good task management software as an integral part of it. Without task management software, there is no project management software.įor this reason, task management is the primary foundation of any project management application. The more you create smart lists and sort through your tasks, the more you’ll benefit from this sleek time-saver.Task management is as integral to the project management discipline as a ball to the game of football. Reminders and Calendars are useful apps on their own, but Goodtask by Setapp brings out the best in both. You can add your own quick actions by going to the “Quick Actions” tab under “Preferences”. These actions let you automatically change the due date or time of an app or add it to certain searchable lists. To access the “quick actions” tab, click the lightning bolt icon on the right-hand side of the screen. Quick actions make it easy to customize your tasks as needed. When you create a Smart List, select the words or features you want it to filter for, and the list will automatically add any tasks that fit those criteria. You can add any task to a Reminders List with the “Lists” menu when you create it. To add another list of tasks, click the “+” button at the bottom left corner and select “Reminders List” or “Smart List”. Your lists are visible on the left hand side of the screen. It’s easy for tasks to pile up, so the app helps you streamline by sorting your tasks into lists. If you have a task that repeats every day, week or month, use the drop-down “Repeat” menu to set up a recurring event. If you want some help remembering to complete it, add an Alert from the same menu. Use the menus at right to set due dates, times, and locations. Once you’ve synced the app with Calendar and Reminders, click the “+” button in the upper right corner to create a new task. With handy features like alerts, tags, quick actions, and subtasks, your productivity is sure to rise. Its simple interface lets you plan your days, weeks, and months effortlessly and schedule reminders so your commitments don’t sneak up on you.
